I am writing a book on the history of podiatry. Should I include footnotes?
You need to toe the line like the rest of us. You are NOT the sole writer of history around here. But be careful of publishers, they sometimes take law into their own hand. I wrote a book on the history of colon surgery and they removed the appendix from my original manuscript.

How long should it take for your feet to stop hurting after getting orthotics made for fallen arches?
Has anyone had surgery on their big toe to correct a bone spur?
I am due to have surgery and wonder if it will be successful. At the moment it is very painful and i cannot wear any other shoes than springy type soft ones like trainers or soft pumps, i wondered if anyone has had this op done and returned to wearing their usual footwear, i have a lot shoes, but cannot wear them at the moment? the bone spur has grown over my big toe joint so it is difficult to walk without pain.
it will be successfuly, no problem, look at footballers how many orthopedic operatons they have and they go back normally to play football.

Arch pain, what is this about?
I have been walking just about every evening a mile or so, and get arch pain. Like near my heel. Do I need some kind of inserts? Been going on for weeks now. I don’t want to rest it because I like the health benefits of distance walking. I have never had feet problems before. I have new balance walking shoes.
you may have plantar fasciitis, if it hurts sharply first thing in the morning, when you first put weight on your feet, and a dull aching burning pain that increases through the day.
does any of this sound like yours:
What are the symptoms?
Most people with plantar fasciitis have pain when they take their first steps after they get out of bed or sit for a long time. You may have less stiffness and pain after you take a few steps, but your foot may hurt more as the day goes on. It may hurt the most when you climb stairs or after you stand for a long time.

What is the best way for a distance runner to cure plantar fasciitis?
Stopping your running is NOT a viable answer! Amputation does NOT count. The solution must be legal in most parts of the world!
if you wont stop running and do alternative fitness workouts for a month or so simply it will not be cured! but you may be able to lessen the pain
if you insist on running then first get an podiatric corrected heel and foot insert for your shoes, next get appropriate stretchs taught to you for you tendons, next ice it after every run and use anti-inflammatories and finally get used to pain - as you refuse to not run it will never be cured and might develop into arthritis

What can I do to relieve heel spur pain?
i had this and tried just about everything. Had orthodics made for my shoe, got cortisone shots. Nothing seemed and they wanted to operate. My family dr told me to put sponges in my shoes and believe it or not, this helped. I also was told to wear shoes that had a higher heel to take the pressure off my heel. This was a few years ago and now I have no pain at all.

Why do i always have heel pain, after running hard?
How do i run correctly to avoid that pain
i’m talking about my whole feet?
Common causes of heel pain are plantar fasciitis and heel spurs.
Plantar Fasciitis is a painful inflammatory condition causing heel pain and in some people, heel spurs. It can also result in arch pain. Plantar Fasciitis is often caused by abnormal pronation of the foot and improper arch support. Contributing factors are weight gain, intense physical activity, jobs that require a lot of walking or standing on hard surfaces, or shoes with poor arch support.
A heel spur is a bony growth on the heel bone (calcaneus). Heel spurs can cause sharp foot pain at the bottom or front of the heel bone. Heel spurs and heel pain can be caused by plantar fasciitis. Continuous pulling of the fascia at the heel bone eventually leads to the development of this painful bony growth on the heel.
Research has found that a combination of proper exercises and arch support by wearing orthotic insoles can provide effective relief for this type of condition.
