Is there any literature regarding the long term benefits of wearing orthotics for flat feet?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: Orthotics

I’ve googled and yahood, I’m assuming I just am not looking in the right place. The majority of information I’ve found mentions using arch support in your shoes, however I am a martial artist/gymnast and the majority of what I do involves me not wearing shoes. Will wearing the arch supports when I have shoes on actually benefit me during the times I am not wearing the supports? Thanks in advance.

Try Google Scholar, It is a search engine that searches for academic books, theses, articles etc.

What kind of Doctor specializes in tendon disease?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: Painful Toe Joint

My husband has been in pain for many years from basic things like walking on his feet wrong, or stretching his body. The worst part is walking…which is pretty hard to ignore. He has to wear hiking boots or running shoes most of the time to give his feet the most support possible, but his feet will still be sore. If he accidentally stretches his big toe too far or walk too much, he will be on the couch for days as it is too painful to walk. My husband has been to joint specialists (a rheumatologist) and they have been clueless.

Please help.

You probably want to see an orthopedist or a sports medicine doc. Someone who specializes in sports medicine would be involved with various types of injury and might be able to help your husband even if he’s not an athlete.

Posted by: admin  :  Category: Arch Pain

So today we had a track meet
I run the 1600 and the 3200
the track we ran at was horrible, i hated it. it was uncomfortable and painful.
after the 1600 I began to feel a sharp pain at the arch of my foot. It hurts. I walk with a limp now.
Anyway, we have an important meet next week and I want to get better,
What can I do to make this pain go away?
It hurts right at the arch….

get in the bath tub and fill it up with ice.
and sit in it for about 5-8 minutes.

thats what varisty track team does.

How do i no if i have a heel spur and how can i heel it?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: Heel Spur

right ive got a bit of pain on my heel when i walk its at the back of it were it bends and them up about 2-3 inchs .. ive been resting it abit.. and it feels better when theres been ice on it.. id rather not have surgery any other (home) remedies. it dosnt hurt if my foot is staright and it isnt swollown or red..
???

The only real way to know is to have an xray. If you get up in the morning and you can barely walk with extreme pain in the heel this is a likely cause. Limp on over to a drug store and get those semi translucent plastic heel inserts (heel cups) that support your weight. They will get rid of the pain. Don’t wear high heels. These are other methods without surgery, but I haven’t had the problem for 23 years.

Stretching splints
Stretching slippers
Taping the arch

How can I stop my feet from burning at night and what are the most comforable shoes for heel pain?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: Heel Pain

Heal pain can be caused by planters facitus. Sorry, not sure of the spelling. You need to wear low shoes with good heal support. New Balance makes a sneaker just for this problem. It will take a long time to heal…trust me, I have been dealing with this for 1.5 yrs. Look on webMD for more about this problem.

Aching Feet!!! can someone help me with this?

Posted by: admin  :  Category: Aching Feet

For months now, I have experience achy feet, stemming from my arches. This ache and pain has now moved to both upper heels of my feet. This pain occurs whether I’m sitting, sleeping or walking. I often wake up with this pain, once my feet touches the floor my feet is in intense pain. I have soaked, massaged and even bought Dr. Scholls foot gels inserts. And to no avail, my feet still hurt. I’m a 37 yr. old female and is very concerned about my feet and my chronic dry eyes. Help me to help myself. I thank you in advance for your advice. :(
You have plantar facsitis. I used to work for a podiatrist and I have it too. A lot of people with high arches get it, as well as those that spend a lot of time on their feet. The fact that it is horrible pain when you wake up proves it is plantar facitis, more likely than not. As far as I know these are you options (no you do not need an orthopedic surgeon, unless you want one):

1) Podiatrist can tape your arches to support them.
2) You can get custom orthotic shoe inserts
3) you can get injections in your heel
and 4) this one worked for me: You can get Birkenstock or Dansko shoes, wear them all the time.

Now mine is cured and I can wear flipflops and go barefoot again. But at work, I wear my Danskos.

Good Luck

I have worn the same kind of shoes my entire life and my feet hurt constantly- somebody help me please!

Looks like you need a career change. Are you an elf? Seriously, like a Santa’s helper? Those feet don’t look jolly. What is really happening up there in the North Pole?
